A boutique winery, rescued from ruin and now producing award winning wines in the picturesque Perth Hills.
Bungarra Wines takes its name from the Bungarras (Racehorse Goannas) that roam the property during the warmer months.
This boutique winery is located just 4 kilometres from Chidlow in Western Australia’s Perth Hills, a region with a rich agricultural history. Originally known as Chidlow’s Well, the area was established around a railway station opened in 1884, providing a vital water stop for steam trains travelling to Northam, York and the goldfields. Today, the combination of cool winters, warm summer days and fertile, free-draining soils continues to support premium fruit growing, with wine grapes now flourishing across the region.
The first vines were planted in 1995, beginning with Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, followed by Shiraz and Verdelho. These varieties have gone on to perform strongly, earning medals at both the Perth Hills and Swan Valley Wine Shows, reflecting Bungarra Wines’ commitment to producing quality, expressive wines from this unique Perth Hills terroir.
